When Josh and Becca first launched Fruitblood in 2021, they put out a call for local artists to create artwork for their first four natural fruit wines: Love Bites, Mercury in Retrograde, Feral Cat, and Sleep Talker. Becca created a brand that was experimental, indulgent, and avant-garde.

I was selected to create illustrations for Sleep Talker and Feral Cat, which felt like the perfect opportunity to feature my own feral cat, Tooth.

Here’s a look at all of the concepts I submitted using my scanner as a camera. I created this series of collaged images by combining found and custom imagery, physical distortion, and hand drawn details to bring the narratives to life.

For Feral Cat, I wanted to emphasize the wine’s sharp, citrus bite with bold colors, fizzy scribbles, and cactus imagery. For Sleep Talker, the contrast between the soft, romantic woman and the hyper-realistic NASA imagery felt right for the punchy yet lush wine.
