CREŌ was founded and developed by a small group of educators who live in a tiny, rural town in North Mississippi. Frustrated with the local educational options, they set out to create a holistic approach to education that combined rigorous academics with intentional Christian discipleship in a relaxed, nurturing setting.
Inspired by their thoughtfully-crafted space and approach to education, I crafted a warm, modern, flexible, and unique identity.
First, we renamed the school. CREŌ stands for Creative Rural Educational Opportunities; it comes from the Latin verb creō meaning to create, bring into being, and cause to grow; this especially resonated with the client. The symbol is open to a few interpretations: an open book for academics, and rays of light, to represent the gift of knowledge and God’s love.

We also developed mascots and created a set of logos for the school’s sole athletic program: archery, represented by Artemis and Apollo.
